Professional

Dr. Dodds attended Michigan State University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry in the Lyman Briggs School. He subsequently attended Wayne State University, where he obtained his medical doctorate. He did his internship and residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers (now Ascension Providence) from 1994 to 1998. He initially became Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2000. In 2013, Dr. Dodds became the first physician certfied in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Providence.

Early in his career, Dr. Dodds worked in an Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialty practice. During these five years, he worked part time with Dr. Dolnicek (the first Urogynecologist at Providence) to help develop the practice. The two eventually started the Women's Center for Continence and Pelvic Medicine in 2003. When Dr. Woodman and Griffin joined on, we re-named the practice the Providence Pelvic Health Center.

Dr. Dodds has always been actively involved with Medical Education. He worked himself up through the Educational ranks from a member of the Teaching Faculty to the Program Director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program. He served in this capacity for twelve years, stepping down in 2022. He continues as a member of the Teaching Faculty working with Dr. Griffin to educate the OB/Gyn Residents in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.

Awards

Top Doctor for 2022

Over the years, Dr. Dodds has won most of the Teaching awards in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. These include the Resident Teacher of the Year (all four years of residency), the Bernard Mandelbaum Award (for demonstrated commitment to sustained personal involvement in Obstetrics and Gynecology teaching) the National Faculty Award (from the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology for resident education), the American Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Teaching Award (for medical student education), the James Kornmesser Goledn Forceps Award (for resident education), the Physicians Excellence Award (given by the Providence Nursing staff) and the Anthony Boutt Award (for evidence based medicine and patient centered care). Locally, he also received the "Top Doc" designation!

Personal

Dr. Dodds was raised locally and is a graduate of Novi High School (Go Wildcats!). He has had the honor and privilege of being married to his High School sweetheart since 1992. He currently lives in Novi with his wife. His daughter is an Elementary Teacher and his son is attending West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.

When not working as a Physician or teaching, Dr. Dodds has a number of hobbies. He mostly enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is a bit of a techno-geek and likes things like web design (ie this website). He also enjoys reading and will finish a book about every 5-7 days (loves the Kindle).

Dr. Dodds is an employee of Ascension Medical Group through Ascension Providence Hospital. He has admitting privlidges at both Ascension Providence Hospital campuses (Southfield and Novi). He does a majority of his inpatient work at the Novi campus.
